These losses don't have language, so they don't get to be real, so they don't go anywhere. They stay and get creative. (Your 3am irritability is not a personality flaw. Just saying.)

Spiritual direction is built for exactly this. Not therapy. Not your well-meaning friend who suggests journaling. Something older: someone who treats your loss as real before trying to fix it. What did you build your life around that's gone? I know this territory because I've lived in it. I know what it costs to carry something with no one to name it.
